NBA PICKS: 12/6/07

Good evening. We had another disappointing night last night (how soft are the Mavs?!?!?!!?). 2-3-1 last night brings our season to 53-61-2. Only 3 games on the docket tonight. Here’s who we like:

Mavs -7.5 (The Nuggets are the only other team that may be as soft as the Mavs)

Hawks -9 and the UNDER 188.5

Heat -3

Good luck.

Nets/Cavs OVER 189

Good luck.

NBA PICKS: DAY 19 (11/17/07)

0-5 night last night really hurt us. 30-32-1 on the season. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. Looking to rally tonight. Here’s who we like:

Blazers +6.5 @ Wizards: The Wiz were impressive last night in Minnesota. The Blazers lost on the road to a decent Sixers team. Interesting game here. The Blazers cover a lot for us, even though they have been terrible ATS in ther recent road games. However, the road team in this meeting is 8-2 ATS in the last 10. This is too many points. Take the Blazers +6.5.

Sonics @ Bobcats -8: Durant is bursting on to the scene!!!! Can only build confidence from last night. However, the Bocats are just too good. Especially at home and rested. Take the Bobcats -8.

Jazz -5.5 @ Pacers: Pacers sucks. Jazz will rebound. Take the Jazz -5.5.

Hornets -6 @ T’Wolves: The Hornets are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 meetings with the Wolves. The Hornets will rebound from last night. Take the Hornets -6.

Suns -6 @ Rockets: Rockets have hit the wall. No McGrady. The Suns are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 meetings and the road team is 9-3 ATS in their last 12. Take the Suns -6.

There you go. Good luck with your picks.

Good night last night-3-1. Brings our season record closer to respectability at 26-23-1. Not even close to good, but a little closer to a record that we can talk about in public. It will keep improving. Here’s our picks for tonight:

Magic +3 @ Cavs: We are a little reluctant to take the Magic in this one, but we like the points. We think they will cover. Take the Magic +3.

Jazz -1.5 @ Raptors: A battle of teams that love to cover for us. Utah owns their recent match-ups. Take the Jazz -1.5.

Sixers @ Hornets -8.5: Hornets destroyed them recently in Philly. The Sixers played most of last night’s game against the Mavs close, but lost it big in the end. The Hornets are rested and at home. A lot of points to give-up to a team that plays good D, but we think the Hornets will cover. Take the Hornets -8.5.

Knicks @ Clippers: The Knicks are a team in turmoil. And they are bad. The Clippers are rested and at home. Take the Clippers -8.

Pistons @ Warriors +2.5: The Pistons screwed us last night. The Warriors are winless, and they have too much talent to be winless at this point. They are rested. They get their first W tonight. Take the Warriors +2.5.

Kings +2 @ Wolves: This is an Ike Turner Game (more than typical bet). We like this a lot. Both teams are bad, but the numbers point to the Kings winning big. It is fantastic that they are getting points. Take the Kings +2.

There you go. Good luck with your picks.

13-9 on the season. We are geting there. Here are our locks for Day 8:

Clippers +7 @ Bulls: Bulls have stumbled bad out of the gates. The Clipp look very similar to the team of last year-good but not great. Our analysis says they will lose, but they have enough to keep it within 7. Take the Clippers +7.

Hornets +3.5 @ Lakers: The Lakers are completely surprising us this year. We did not expect them to come out like they have. They are relentless at home. However, the Hornets have been just as surprising (if not more so). Our analysis says the Hornets will cover and probably win outright. Take the Hornets +3.5

Sonics +3 @ Kings: Sonics are young, but they play hard. We love Durant!! He is as good as advertised. The Kings are terrible. They won’t beat anyone by 3 or more. Take the Sonics +3.

Raptors -2.5 @ Bucks: Bucks are decent, but the Raptors are cover deamons. Even on the road, our analysis says Raptors all the way. Take the Raptors -2.5.

Magic -6.5 @ T’Wolves: The T’wolves losing KG hit them extremely hard. They are a fraction of the team they were last year. The Magic are legit, and like the Raptors, are cover deamons. Our analysis likes the Magic on the road. Take the Magic -6.5.

There you go. 5 locks for Day 8. Good luck with your picks.

MLB & NBA Lines

Quite a few good lines for Friday’s action. Here are my picks:

  • Knicks @ Nets.Knicks are a walking hospital ward right now, but this line is crazy. Knicks cover this easy. I’m taking the Knicks +9.
  • Nuggets @ Hornets. This game has  a lot of side stories and will be fun to watch. The Hornets have been decimated by injuries, and Friday night could be the last time basketball is played on OK City in quite some time. After Friday, the Hornets’ final three games are on the road and their playoff future is still uncertain. The Nuggets on the otherhand are ROLLIN’. Probably the hottest team in the league right now. They are firing on all cylinders, going 7-0 in April. Mello is playing liek a man possessed. AI is AI (to quote his Mom). The crowd will be rockin’ for this game and I’d love to be there in person. The sentimental pick is to take the Hornets in this one. However, the Nuggets are just too good and the Hornets’ injuries will hurt them. I like the Nuggets, and I like hem more getting points. I’m taking the Nuggets +1.5.
  • Spurs @ Twolves. As the game against the Kings earlier this week shows, I never learn. THE SPURS SELDOM COVER. It is almost automatic.  However, they are playing a Twolves team that will be without KG. In their last game without KG, they lost by almost 20 points at home to a Mavs team without Dirk and Stack. Logic tells me to take the Twolves at home, but I’m illogical and the Twolves are atrocious without KG. I don’t care that they are at home. I’m going against better judgment and taking the Spurs -10.5. (NOTE: If these SOB’s don’t cover, I’m never betting on them again and I will start a full-time blog to haze them.)
  • Bobcats @ Bulls. Bulls are rollin’ right now. I like them a lot at home. I’m taking the Bulls -9.5.

  • Reds @ Cubs.Battle of pitchers in this one as Harang goes against Zambrano. Zambrano is awesome and  pitched well his last time out. However, his team’s offense has been terrible and they have been off a few days due to the lovely weather in Chitown. Tomorrow is supposed the be bad as well. I think Harang can match him. I just like the Reds offense much better right now. Like the line, too. I’m taking the Reds +135.
  • Giants @ Pirates. Barry’s homecoming. The Duke of Pittsburgh toes the rubber for the Bucks. Russ Ortiz for the Giants. I’m a HUGE fan of the Duke. However, his offense is not playing that well right now. The Giants are due for a win, and Bonds his due to breakout of his slump. Ortiz is terrible, but his lifetime stats against the Bucks (7-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 12 starts) are great. I like the line. I’m taking the Giants +140.
  • Nats @ Mets.Nats look to capitalize on their impressive victory Thursday night over the Braves & Senior Smoltz. They send their ace, John Patterson, to the hill against the impressive Mets youngster Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey was sharp during the Spring and makes his season debut. Patterson has been terrible to start the year. He is due for a good outing. The Nats won’t score many runs, but I like their chances against a guy who was in the minors last year. Patterson can match him. I’m taking thr Nats +170.
  • Marlins @ Braves. This may be my favorite baseball line of the night. The D-Train makes its next stop in Atalanta against Redman and the Braves. Willis’ career stats in April are ridiculous. I think he mows in this one. The line is flawed, too. I’m taking the Marlins -105.
  • White Sox @ Indians. Not sure if this game will be “Home” in Milwaukee, or in Cleveland. It doesn’t matter. Javy Vazquez looked great last time out. I’m not a fan of Carmona. I like this line. I’m taking the Sox -108.
  • Rays @ Twins. This game has all the makings of a repeat performance of the Mariners-Sox game from Wednesday night. Could be a great pitchers duel and Kazmir squares off against Johan. As expected, the Rays are HUGE underdogs in this one (+220). Tough game to call. If Kazmir is on, he can dominate the Twins line-up. Johan, of course, will be Johan and shutdown the Rays. I think the Twins win, but the line is too bad. However, the over is 7.5. That is way too many runs for this game. I’m taking the UNDER @ 7.5.

That’s it for me. Quite a few games. Hopefully you can get some use out of the picks.

 Good luck.

More NBA Picks

Just saw some updated lines for tonight’s NBA games. I like three of them alot.

  • Wizards @ Heat. Unsure if Shaq will play in this one. Even if he does, the Heat are not playing well right now. Neither are the Wizards though, who are losers of 5 straight games. They have not lost 6 straight since 2004. I doubt the Wizards will win this one, but I think the spread is too high. I think they cover. I’m taking the Wizards +9.5.
  • Mavs @ Twolves. Neither team has anything to play for because the Mavs have clinched everything they can and the Twolves are just bad. The Mavs are bencing Dirk and Stack, and they are 2.5 point underdogs. That is insane! Even without those players, they still have a lot of other weapons. KG will have a big game without Dirk, but no way they cover 2.5. I love this line. I’m taking the Mavs +2.5.
  • Magic @ Pistons. With a win and a Bulls loss, the Pistons will clinch home field. They will be playing to get that. However, the Magic are fighting for their playoff lives right now. They know it is now or never. They will play with urgency in this one. This line is too high. I’m taking the Magic +5.

Hope these help. Good luck with your picks.
