2008 NFL Week Four: Free Winning Picks and Chicks

Greetings folks. A decent, but not good, Week Three brought us back a little closer to respectability. However, we know we have a ton of work to do to right the ship. Our NFL season records are as follows: RPJ $yndicate is 3-7, Flash is 2-1 and Runny is 5-7. Still pretty bad, but we ain’t stopping!!!!

Well in keeping with tradition, when we blow we show more picks of hot chicks:

I have a spare hand if you need a replacement!

I have a spare hand if you need a replacement!

I just saw Transformers and I want to transform her panties into my face!

I just saw Transformers and I want to transform her panties into my face!

Here is what we like this week:

RPJ $yndicate Picks

Cardinals @ Jets (-1): The Cards looked awful last week against a Skins team that we think is pretty overrated. The Jets were just as bad against a hungry Chargers team on Monday night. What will give? The key to his game is the Cards and their road woes. They are terrible on the road. They have studs on offense and a decent D. There is no reason they should be Dogs in this game (or their last). Also, look at these facts: Jets are 11-1 ATS as home favorites vs. opponents that are .600 or better and 12-2 ATS off of Monday Night games. Nuff said. Take the Jets -1.

Falcons @ Panthers (-6.5): Don’t be fooled by the Falcons. Although they are 2-1, their two wins were against terrible teams (Lions and Chiefs). Their sole loss was a beatdown against the Bucs. The Panthers are more like the Bucs than the Lions and Chiefs. They will win, and when they win at home they are 44-8 ATS. Also, never take rookie QBs on the road. Take the Panthers -6.5.

Runny Picks

Chargers @ Raiders (+7.5): This pick pains me because I like Lane Kiffin and I think the Raiders are better than they get credit for being. I just don’t think they have enough this week, despite the fact that the Chargers are traveling off of Monday Night (if you are a reader of our blog, you’ll understand the reference and stat). Facts: Raiders are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 at home against the Chargers. This is a lot of points, but Rivers is the best QB in the league right now. Take the Chargers -7.5.

49ers @ Saints (-4): The Niners are off of a dominating win last week at home. They are young and their D seems to be on the right track. However, I am not sold on J.T. O’Sullivan. Plus, they re going on the road against a Saints team that can do some damage on offense. Facts: Niners are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 against the Saints and under Nolan, the Niners are 2-13 SU and 4-11 ATS away against non-division teams. I love the Saints in this. Take the Saints -4.

Bills @ Rams (+8): The Rams are lost and Linehan has lost this team. Players are openly stating that they don’t want to play for him and Trent Green is getting the start this week. Terrible. The Bills are loaded and are playing well. Facts: Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 against the Bills and 0-12 SU and 2-10 ATS against inning teams under Linehan. This will be bloody. Take the Bills -8.

Flash Flash Picks

I should be 3-0 and I am not bitter about it or anything. I love the backdoor but I hate backdoor covers.

Only one pick for me this week and that is Redskins (+11) at Dallas. This is too many points and I live the ATS numbers.

Redskins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win.
Redskins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win.
Redskins are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Redskins are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. NFC.
Redskins are 21-8-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
Cowboys are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Cowboys are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Cowboys are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. NFC.
Cowboys are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC East.

Head-to-Head
Redskins are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
Underdog is 17-4 ATS in their last 21 meetings.

I do not think the Skins will win but I think they are playing better and can keep this within ten points. Take the Skins with the points!

As always, good luck with your picks.

NFL WEEK 15 PICKS

Another Sunday is upon us and the NFL regular season is winding down. Teams are jockying for playoff spots, 1st week byes and draft positions. Very exciting stuff. Of course the Bungles sucked it on Saturday night to bring our season record to 54-41-1. We are disappointed, but still happy with how our season is going. We know we do our best work on Sundays. With that said, this is what e like Sunday:

Jags +3 @ Steelers: No guarantees by the Steelers this week as they host the Jags. Big playoff implications in this on. The Jags are playing very sound football right now while the Steelers have been two different teams-brilliant at home and terrible on the road. They are at home this week and they are getting players back from the medical ward. It won’t matter in this one. The jags are banged-up, but they know how to overcome. They will keep it close if not win outright. Take the Jags +3.

Colts @ Raiders +10.5: The Colts roll into Oaktown to face a young Raiders team. The Colts have looked like a team that is primed for the playoffs-despite the injuries. They are banged-up again for this one. The Raiders were terrible in Green Bay last week. All the ATS numbers point to the Colts covering easy. And, most of the money in Vegas is on the Colts (94% as of the time of this post). That is why we like the Raiders at home. Kiffin grew up watching Dungy. He will have his boys ready. Take the Raiders +10.5

Ravens -3.5 @ Dolphins: Could there be a worse team than the Fins?!?! Just when you think it could not get any worse, they lose 38-17 to the Bills. There is no relief in sight. The only things they have going for them in this one is that they are at home and the Ravens have a lot of key injuries. We don;t think it will matter in this one. Take the Ravens -3.5.

Titans -4 @ Chiefs: The Chiefs are a mess. They could be looking at using their 4th string RB this week. That is not good against a solid Tennessee D. The Chiefs just are not a good team right now. They are not well coached, and they are injured. Despite the huge home-field advantage, this all adds up to a Titans cover. Take the Titans -4.

Falcons +12.5 @ Buccaneers:Don’t get us wrong-the Falcons are terrible. Petrino walking out on them was just another sign that things are not getting any better in Hotlanta anytime soon. That said, 12.5 is too many points. They will rally around each other after Petrino quit on them and keep this game with 12.5. Take the Falcons +12.5.

Eagles +10 @ Cowboys: The Cowboys return home after a sucker win against the Lions. They had no business winning that one and that game revealed a lot about this team-they are extremely soft on D and very undisciplined on O. They have a lot of talent on both sides of the field, but need a lot of improvement if they want to get through the playoffs. The Linos showed that the Cowboys can be physically dominated with hard hits. The Eagles definitely know how to do that. They will cover if not win outright. Also, keep in mind that the last time the Cowboys had a lucky win like last week was also on the road. It was in Buffalo on Monday night. What happened the following week? They got spanked at home by the Patriots. This will be the Eagles Super Bowl. Nothing will please them more than to beat the Cowboys in Big D. Take the Eagles +10.

Seahawks -7 @ Panters: The Seahawks are hot right now. They have been decimating teams at home and on the road. They look to continue that play against a struggling Panthers team this week. The injury bug has hit the Panthers particularily hard this year. That does no bode well for them against a hot ‘Hawks team. We think the Seahawks will have too much for them this week. Take the Seahawks -7.

Jets @ Patriots -21: Another lopsided spread for the Pats. This line actually opened at 24.5 and has dropped. We think it is due to the weather and the fact that a huge majority of the bets in Vegas are on the Jets. We think that is comical. Even with the weather, the Pats are gonna steamroll this Jets team. They have no threats at all. Kellen Clemens has not seen this team in action and the Jets D will not be able to stop the Pats. Belichek despises Mangini and if he was willing to run up the score on Joe Gibbs, what do you think he will do in this one?!?! We don’t think the Jets will even score. Take the Pats -21.

Redskins @ Giants -5: The Skins are injured and are limping into their match-up with the Giants. Losing Jason Campbell is a HUGE loss. Todd Collins is not answer. The Giants will roll at home. Take the Giants -5.

9 picks for Sunday! Good luck with your picks!

NBA PICKS: 12/10/07

After a disappointing 5-5 night last Friday night, we took the weekend off to re-group (and focus on NFL). Our season record stands at 59-69-2. Here is what we like tonight:

Rockets @ 76ers +6:  Rockets got SMOKED last night by a battered Raptors team. They play back-to-back nights tonight against a high energy Sixers team that is fresh off of back-to-back beatdwon of the the Knicks. Not that that is an impressive feat, but they did look good. We think the Rockets right their ship and win tonight, but we think the Sixers keep it with 6. Take the Sixers +6.

Hawks @ Magic -9.5: The Hawks have been terrible ATS on the road. However, they have been good recently in Orlando. We don’t think it matters tonight. The Magic are rested. We think they roll. Take the Magic -9.5.

Mavs -8.5 @ Knicks: This is a lot of points to give a home team. Not when that team is the Knicks. Eventhough the Mavs are the softest team in the NBA, we think they cover. Take the Mavs -8.5.

Heat @ Suns -11.5; OVER/UNDER 216.5: The Heat have actually been surprisingly decent ATS in back-to-back games (4-2). That said, they are still not a good team. The last time they were in Phoenix, they lost by 28. It won’t be that bad tonight, but it will still be a beatdown. Take the Suns -11.5. We also love the OVER 216.5.

Good luck.

Raptors +7

Knicks +6

Pistons/Hornets OVER 193

Mavs -3

Rockets -10

NFL WEEK 12 PICKS

Greeting and Happy Turkey Day! Hope your holiday went well. Our’s did-great food, great family, great friends and 2-1 on our NFL picks (3-1 if you count the USC beatdown at ASU)!! Brings our record to 36-22-1. That is 62%!! We are gtting better and hope to have the record above 65% ASAP. Here are our picks for Sunday’s action:

Titans @ Bengals +1.5: The Titans looked terrible on Monday against a mediocre Broncos team. The Bengals have looked bad all season. What will give? The ATS numbers are pretty even. We can’t believe we are saying this, but we like Cinncy. Take the Bungles +1.5.

Broncos +2 @ Bears: The Broncos looked great last Monday at home. The Bears are a joke. Grossman is a mistake at QB. Shannahan will bring the pressure against him, forcing the typical Grossman mistakes. The Bears D is no where near what it used to be. We like the Broncos to cover and porbably win outright. Take the Broncos +2.

Seahawks @ Rams +3: The Rams seem to have righted their ship. They are getting their guys back from injury, and they are playing much better. The Seahawks are playing better as well. However, we think the ‘Hawks are not as good as they think. Also, the underdog is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 head-to-head meetings. That is enough for us. This is too many points to give the Rams. Take the Rams +3.

49ers @ Cardinals -10.5: This ia a lot of points to give, but the 49ers are a joke. The Cards are playing well right now and will look to avenge their week 1 loss in SanFran. We think they roll here. Take the Cards -10.5.

Ravens +9 @ Chargers: The Chargers are a joke. What the heck happened to this team?!?!?!?!? Norv? Did they believe the hype? Who knows. The Ravens are pretty freakin’ bad, too. However, in a battle of two terrible teams, be like the points. Even on the road. Take the Ravens +9.

Eagles @ Patriots -24; Over/Under 50.5: You read that right-“-24”!!!!!! Insane amount of points to give in a NFL game. We checked our records and cannot find a line this high for NFL in the past 25 years. However, we think it is legit and not low enough. The Eagles are a debacle. The Pats have shown their goal is to run up the score. 24 points is a lot to give, but we think they win this game by 30. Take the Pats -24. Also, the Pats will hang 50 points on their own. Take the Over 50.5.

Good luck.

NBA PICKS: DAY 16

Good night last night-3-1. Brings our season record closer to respectability at 26-23-1. Not even close to good, but a little closer to a record that we can talk about in public. It will keep improving. Here’s our picks for tonight:

Magic +3 @ Cavs: We are a little reluctant to take the Magic in this one, but we like the points. We think they will cover. Take the Magic +3.

Jazz -1.5 @ Raptors: A battle of teams that love to cover for us. Utah owns their recent match-ups. Take the Jazz -1.5.

Sixers @ Hornets -8.5: Hornets destroyed them recently in Philly. The Sixers played most of last night’s game against the Mavs close, but lost it big in the end. The Hornets are rested and at home. A lot of points to give-up to a team that plays good D, but we think the Hornets will cover. Take the Hornets -8.5.

Knicks @ Clippers: The Knicks are a team in turmoil. And they are bad. The Clippers are rested and at home. Take the Clippers -8.

Pistons @ Warriors +2.5: The Pistons screwed us last night. The Warriors are winless, and they have too much talent to be winless at this point. They are rested. They get their first W tonight. Take the Warriors +2.5.

Kings +2 @ Wolves: This is an Ike Turner Game (more than typical bet). We like this a lot. Both teams are bad, but the numbers point to the Kings winning big. It is fantastic that they are getting points. Take the Kings +2.

There you go. Good luck with your picks.

NBA PICKS: LUCKY #13

Greetings. 2-0 last night brinning us to 21-18 on the year. If you read our blog yesterday, you’ll remember that we wrote that yesterday, Day 12, was the first step in our road to recovery. Day 13 is our lucky day and is step two. Here are our picks for today:

Hornets @ Sixers +2.5: The Six are playing RIDICULOUS D. They seem to be better without Iverson. The New AI, Andre Igoudala,  is the real deal and is flourishing in his new role as the team go-to-guy. The Hornets have opened eyes this year, too. However, we like the Six at home getting points. Their D is strong enough to keep it within 2.5. Take the Sixers +2.5.

Pistons -6.5 @ Sonics: Sonics have played every bit like the young team they are-flashes of brilliance but usually ending in losses. The Pistons come to town as a heavy veteran favorite. It is justified. Although this is a lot of points to give, we think it is legit. The Pistons will cover. Take the Pistons -6.5.

Rockets -6.5 @ Bobcats: The Rockets have stormed out of the gate this year. They are playing sick D and McGrady is loking like the early favorite for MVP. The Bobcats seem to be putting it together (off an impressive win against the Pacers last Friday). The Rockets just have too much. Take the Rockets -6.5.

Cavaliers @ Clippers Pick ‘EM: The Cavs have not looked good at all. They squeaked out a win against a bad Kings team in their last game. Not good. The Clipp have been the exact opposite. With the exception of the beatdown they caught in Detroit on Friday, they have been real good. We like them at home. Take the Clippers Pick ‘EM.

There you go. Good luck with your picks

NFL PICKS WEEK 9: WEEK 9 IS FINE!!!!

Greetings. After the 5-0 weekend last week, we brought our record to 20-11-2. That is damn fine as we head into week 9. We look to continue our undefeated run with some more locks today. Here we go:

Cowboys -3 @ Eagles: The Cowboys roll into Philly looking to avenge two straight beatdwons at the hands of the Eagles. The Eagles head back home after a solid win in Minnesota amidst the turmoil of Andy Reid and his family crisis (Andy, take a leave of absence. Focus on your kids and family. Life is too short to worry about a team where the fans chant “Bill Cower” in the stands of your home games all the while your kids are falling apart. It is not a sign of weakness to resign. Refusing to step down is a sign of arrogance and stupidity. That is just our two cents..). The Boys are coming off the bye. They are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 November games. The Eagles are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games in Week 9. The Boys will win easily. Look for TO to have a big game. Take the Cowboys -3.

Redskins -3.5 @ Jets: The Jets finally pulled the trigger on Pennigton and will start Kellen Clemens this week. We agree with this move. The Jets aren’t going to the playoffs this year. They should look to their future. Clemens has a gun and it is worth the look. That said, they are still pretty bad. Their team has been decimated by injuries. The Skins are fresh off the mother of all beatdowns last week from New England. They will rebound. They have a solid D that is good enough to hold down the Jets O. The Jets are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 against a team with a winning record. Take the Skins -3.5.

49ers +3.5 @ Falcons: Both these teams are a mess. This game cracks us up!!! The 49ers roll into town probably with Alex Smith back. He is no Joe Montana, but he is probably as good as Joey Harrington. The 49ers have a better D. Here are some other tidbits: 49ers are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 head-to-head meetings; the underdog is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 meetings. Take the points in this one (we think the 49ers win outright anway). Take the 49ers +3.5.

Chargers -7 @ Vikings: Chargers are rollin’ now. The Vikings have the NFL’s best back in Adrian Peterson. However, manning the Vikings helm is Brad Childress. He is a terrible play caller (single-handedly cost them the Cowboys game). The Chargers D will be all over Jackson/Holcomb. They can stop Peterson. This is  alot of points to give a home team, but they can cover. Take the Chargers -7.

Ravens +9 @ Steelers: The Ravens have not played well, but they are coming off the bye. They will be getting players back from the injury report. The Steelers have been up and down all season. One week they look like the Patriots. The next they get destroyed. Most of those bad games have come on the road. This week they are at home. The AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers are unbeaten at Heinz Field this season and have not lost a Monday night game at home in more than 16 years. They will be looking to avenge two beatdwons last season at the hands of the Ravens. They will win this game, but 9 points is too many to give to a division rival coming off the bye. Especially when that rival is a veteran team. Take the points. Take the Ravens +9.

Jags @ Saints -3: The Saints have won 3 straight and look to finally get to .500 on the season. They are at home this week where they have not been good ATS (7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 home games). They also have not covered (2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall).  The Jags held off a late surge by the Bucks last weekend and will throw Quinn Gray out there for his 2nd start. The Jags have a jacked D and will try to pound the Saints with the run. The Saints will counter with stacking the line and make Gray beat them. He won’t. The Saints will cover. Take the Saints -3.

Packers +2.5 @ Chiefs: The Chiefs surprised us this year, but we are not convinced they are as good as their record says. Favre is hot and he has never beat the Chiefs. It will change this week. Pack wins outright. Take the Packers +2.5.

Patriots @ Colts +5.5: Here we go!! Everyone has been asking us our take on this game. Definately the biggest game of the year to date and is probably a preview of the AFC Championship. The Pats have looked unstoppable all season. The Colts have been very impressive, too. Harrison is listed as questionable, but we think he will play. It is tough to find and edge in this game. Both teams have outstanding QB’s. Both D’s are not great, but not bad either. Here is the thing about this though-the Patriots have played a MUCH easier schedule. Their only challenge came against the Cowboys. The Cowboys ultimately lost that game, but did have a lead in the 2nd half. No other team has done that. The rest of their schedule has been a cake walk. On the other hand, the Colts have played some tough teams and still have been damn impressive. They avenged a embarassing loss last year to the Jags.  We like the Colts strength of schedule. We like them at home. We like that the media is giving them little chances of winning. We think the Pats will ultimately win, but it will be close. The Colts will cover. Take the Colts +5.5.

There you go. 8 locks!!!!! Good luck with you picks.

Phillies Listed in the Dictionary Under LOSER!!!!

I live in Philly and am just amazed at the level of excitement the Philadelphia Phillies are generating around town right now. in case you did not hear the Phillies are one game away from suffering their 10,000 loss in team history. Yes that is right…10,000th loss. The players are clearly annoyed by this type of attention but the fans are into it. Check out this article: Phillies One Away From Milestone 10,000th Loss. Some other things going around town are a scheduled parade fomr the original site of Connie Mack statue to a local sports bar and another promotion where you can write a story about your most tragic Philadelphia sports LOSERS moment where the winner gets 2008 Phillies season tickets. One of the craziest stats is that the next closest team as far as historic losses in MLB is 1,000 losses away. That is more than a decade of losses behind the Phils. Another favorite stat, in the Phils 125 year history they have only won one World Series. That is right…..a big fat ONE!!!! One fan even put together a website devoted to the 10,000th loss at www.celebrate10000.com.

So good luck Phightin Phils. You already are the biggest losers in the history of sports and 10,000 will be a great accomplishment. Rejoice fans in your loveable losers, you have nothing else to look forward to but the imminent Donovan McNabb injury and the start of the Kevin Kolb era so might as well enjoy your 10,000th losing moment in Phils history.

Donovan McNabb = Charmin extra soft

I just had to comment on the Donovan McNabb sensitivity training that is going on right now in Philadelphia. Here is the timeline:

Saturday, April 28, 2007 – Before the Eagles are ready to draft Kevin Kolb, QB, Houston, Andy Reid called Donovan McNabb to tell him about the pick and to make sure Donovan knew Kolb was not a threat. McNabb did not answer his phone. McNabb than texted ESPN reporter Michael Smith to say he was not happy about the pick. McNabb’s agent says he was totally baffled with the Eagles pick.

Monday, May 1, 2007 – McNabb worked out at the Eagles facility for 5 hours and did not speak with Andy Reid who was also there. The press picks up on the tension, calls Donovan’s dad to get some quotes out of him (Click here for the quotes: Father says his son can always find job)

Tuesday, May 2, 2007 – McNabb and Reid finally sit down to talk about the draft and clear the air. (Click here for article: Reid, McNabb finally catch up)

Now why is all of this news. Why does Andy Reid have to call Donovan McNabb to explain the Eagles pick? Last time I looked Donovan is not in charge of player moves, he is not the GM and therefore the Eagles do not need to warn him or ask his permission. What you basically have here is a sensitive QB that needs to be babied. Donovan grew up going to private school at upper crust prep school called Mt. Carmel in the Chicago area. He had to be babied when TO called him out. He had to be babied during Jeff Garcia’s success because Philly rallied behind Garcia and then essentially is the reason the Birds did not re-sign Garcia. He now has to be babied during the draft when the Eagles drafted a QB with their first pick.

C’mon Donovan. Grow a spine. You are the leader of the team, you are not some emotional wreck that needs to be coddled at any sign of an emotional challenge. The Eagles should man-up themselves and stop their elitist treatment of you. In my eyes you are one of the softest QBs in the league. Richard Seymour changed you when he decimated you in the Super Bowl. You have not been the same since. I do not know if Kolb is the answer and I would have loved to watch you compete with Garcia for the right to lead the Eagles because you need a swift kick to the butt. Running a team from the QB position is not a privilege that you simply step in to each year, you need to earn it and prove yourself 100% of the time. I do not think the Eagles will ever win a Super Bowl under your leadership because you are a baby and as soft as an extra soft roll of Charmin toilet paper.
