Greetings!!! Another glorious NFL season is upon us and we cannot wait!!! We love this stuff!!!! Thursday is the 2008 season kickoff and features two bitter, division rivals in the Skins at the Giants. This is going to be a good one. The Giants open their season at home as the World Champions. The Skins roll in looking to knock them off their pedestals and set the tone for the season. Tonight’s game is another one that Flash and I could not agree on, but I feel good about it and I’m willing to roll. Let the games begin!!!

This is a much, much different Giants team than the one that upset the Pats in the Super Bowl. Gone is Strahan. Kevin Boss looks like he has come back down to earth (could that guy pick-up any run blocks in pre-season?!?!?!?!) and that could be huge without Shockey. That will be the key to the game.

The Skins are somewhat healthy and they have enough to protect Campbell. Portis can still tote the rock and we will see plenty of him in this game. The Skins will attack the Giants new line with Portis and dumpoffs to Cooley. I think both have a great game. The Giants will just not have enough. Although the ATS numbers favor the Giants (Favorite is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 head-to-head match-ups),  Take the points and the Skins +4.5.

This is a Runny pick only. RPJ Syndicate picks will be out later in the week.

Greetings folks! We kicked-off the season with an OUTSTANDING Week 1: The Syndicate is 4-1, Flash is 2-0 and I am 1-1. Gotta love it when your #9 hitter is batting .500. We’ll take that, but it still is not up to our standards. We will keep pushing it and giving you winning weekends every week. That said, Flash and I fought to the bitter end about the pick for Thursday night. We couldn’t agree, so this is just my pick. Here is my take:

South Carolina -10 @ Vandy: Talk about the bottom of the barrel!!! Clearly these two teams are at the bottom of the SEC crap. These teams are awful, but I like to take advantage of any junk I can find. South Carolina shutout NC State last week, but it wasn’t a typical, 34-0 dominating victory. NC State is terrible. SC has HUGE question marks at the QB position, and Chris Smelley (can’t beat that name when handicapping!!) is the likely starter.  I think he is their best option, but that doesn’t say much.

SC does return 10 starters on D, and I think that is what will pull them through ATS. Despite their victory over Miami (OH) last weekend, Vandy is just bad. Granted, Miami of O has been picked by many experts to win their conference, I just don’t think Miami can hang. They have no returning starters on their O-line or at TE. That is HUGE. Spurrier knows this and will exploit it. Believe me, as bad as SC is, they have much better talent than Miami (OH) and Vandy. Spurrier is one of the best player callers in the game and he knows how to win on the road in primetime. This is exactly the type of game SC needs-PRIMETIME, hostile environment and their SEC kickoff. I think SC wins by 2 TD’s. Take SC -10.

As always, good luck with your picks.
